Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The first set of rules for Australian Rules, a sport formed from a mixture of Gaelic football and rugby, was written in 1859. The first official league was formed in 1896 and since then the game has evolved into a fast, competitive, non- stop sport in which the players are very fit. The skills of marking, passing, kicking and tackling, all fully regulated, have ensured its popularity. On Sunday, The Oval hosts two games, involving teams from the Australian Football League. An exhibition match between West Coast, winners of this year's Grand Final, and Adelaide begins at 11.15am. Following at 1.30pm, the Foster's Cup will be contested by the two Melbourne teams, Carlton and Richmond.

How to get there: Surrey County Cricket Club, Kennington Oval, London SE11. Nearest underground station: Oval (Northern line). Admission: pounds 8, pounds 10 from ticket office 071-582 7764 (9.30am- 4.30pm) or First Call 071-240 7200.
