Your support makes all the difference.World champions, Olympians, fun runners and wheelchair entrants will be gathered on Blackheath this Sunday for the world's largest marathon and on the stroke of 9.30am the cannon will mark the start for some 30,000 to set off for the finish on Westminster Bridge.
Route: Red Start (main field, 9.30am): Charlton Way, Charlton Road, The Village, Little Heath, Hillreach, Artillery Place. Blue Start (Elite women, 9.05am. Elite men, 9.30am): Shooters Hill Road, Charlton Park Lane, Ha Ha Road, Grand Depot Road. Green Start (Senior runners, 9.30am): St John's Park, Old Dover Road, Shooters Hill Road (Then as Blue Start).
Merge: John Wilson Street, Woolwich Church Street, Woolwich Road, Trafalgar Road, Romney Road, King William's Walk; Cutty Sark Gardens, Greenwich Church Street, Creek Road, Evelyn Street, Lower Road, Redriff Road, Salter Road, Brunel Road, Jamaica Road, Tooley Street, Tower Bridge, Mansell Street, Royal Mint Street, Cable Street, Butchers Row, Commercial Road, West India Dock Road, Poplar High Street, Trafalgar Way, South Colonade, West India Avenue, West Ferry Circus, Marsh Wall, Limeharbour, East Ferry Road, West Ferry Road, Limehouse Causeway, Narrow Street, The Highway, Thomas More Street, St Katharine's Way, Tower of London Wharf, Lower Thames Street, Upper Thames Street, Victoria Embankment, Northumberland Avenue, Trafalgar Square, The Mall, Birdcage Walk, Parliament Square, Westminster Bridge.
Best vantage points: The start on Blackheath (Blackheath BR and then short walk over heath or Greenwich BR and walk to heath through park; elite women start at 9.05am, elite men and main body at 9.30). Merge of the starts: John Wilson Street, Woolwich (3 1/2 miles). Cutty Sark, Greenwich (6 1/2 miles; first runner expected 9.37, runners will pass for about one hour; from here, fitter spectators can cross the river, via the foot tunnel, and pick up the race in Docklands at the 17 1/2 -mile stage). Tower Bridge (12 miles; Circle or District underground to Tower Hill; Northern Line or British Rail to London Bridge; space limited on Bridge and very popular). St Katharine's by The Tower (22 miles; Tower Hill underground; watch runners cross Tower Bridge, walk along The Highway to Thomas More Street for the return from the Isle of Dogs at about 11.0). Victoria Embankment (23 1/2 -24 1/2 miles; Circle or District to Blackfriars or Embankment; Northern Line to London Bridge or London Bridge BR; Jubilee to Charing Cross; Charing Cross BR; from Blackfriars Bridge to Embankment station on east-bound section; wide pavements). The Mall and Birdcage Walk (25 miles; Charing Cross BR; Runners from 11.20; both sides of the two roads open). Finish (Westminster Bridge is open only to officials and special guests).
