Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

THE Belgian Formula One Grand Prix over the August bank holiday weekend offers good value in its proximity to Britain and the varied circuit provides good spectating.

The undulating circuit at Spa- Francorchamps, 35 kilometres south-east of Liege in the Ardennes and about two hours from Brussels, is a mixture of public roads and private track. It is a formidable test for the drivers as it is long at 4.321 miles, fast and wide with extensive straights, but difficult because of the bends, crests and sweeps. Bronze admission gives the freedom to walk the circuit to find good, uncrowded viewing points.

Page and Moy Ltd, of Leicester, Motor Racing International, of Sandwich, and the Uxbridge- based Airtrack Services Ltd specialise in grand prix trips. Page and Moy have 11 tours and Motor Racing International have 10 itineraries to suit all pockets. Airtrack offers a day trip, flying from Stansted, at pounds 199 per person.

Just Ticket and Motoring Limited, of Dover, provides tickets and has a package for the motorist. Based on four passengers and including ferry and one-night hotel, the trip costs pounds 69 per person.
