Sir: Let's try something different. Take a current player who has been outstanding at both club and international level and get him to manage the England team. A number of players come to mind, among them Hoddle, Wilkins, Shilton and Robson.
My choice has to be Bryan Robson, an outstanding player, respected throughout the game. He has played 90 games for England, many of these as captain and has played important games for Manchester United. He has suffered many injuries during his career but has always returned with enthusiasm. He has always led by example and I am sure that he would be a great improvement on the current manager.
Yours faithfully,
