Sir: Surely the point about the BSkyB attempt to take over the televising of all sports is that, far from increasing choice, it will restrict it for most sports fans.

A TV monopoly (BBC or ITV) available to the whole population would be replaced by a satellite monopoly, reaching very few homes. I resent being told by the Government (or Mr Murdoch) to 'go out and buy a satellite dish' if I want to watch international sport. Let BSkyB compete with the terrestrial channels on an even footing, and let the public decide who they want to watch.
