JAMIE DELGADO, Britain's No 1 junior, yesterday qualified for his first international Challenger event, the Northern Electric Open, which starts today in Newcastle. The 17-year-old from Maidenhead, a semi-finalist at this year's junior Wimbledon, overcame Australia's James Sekulov 6-3, 6-4 in the final qualifying round. Delgado is joined in the main draw by Scotland's Miles Maclagan while three other home players, Colin Beecher (Kent), Gary Henderson (Yorkshire) and Danny Sapsford (Surrey), have been awarded wild cards.
