SPORTING DIGEST: RUGBY UNION
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Pablo Lemoine, the Uruguayan international prop, is to join the Allied Dunbar Premiership Two leaders Bristol. Lemoine, who can play either at loose-head or tight-head, has been capped six times by Uruguay.
Mark Jones, the Ebbw Vale forward who was sent off for punching his rival lock Ian Gough in the eye, is likely to be banned for Wales' match with South Africa next month. Jones has been summoned to a Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary committee next Tuesday after he punched his Pontypridd opposite number on Saturday.
Terry Fanolua, the Western Samoan international, will have a meeting with his Gloucester club bosses today to explain his late return to the UK from the World Cup qualifiers. Fanolua, 24, had been selected on the bench for Gloucester's game against Wasps at the weekend but did not fly back into Heathrow until early yesterday. A club spokesman said: "He is sleeping off his jet lag and is due to meet with Richard Hill (coaching director) and John Fidler (team manager) to explain why he did not return in time for Saturday's game." The club will issue a statement after the meeting.
