THIS year's Paris-Dakar rally suffered its first fatality on Tuesday. Michel Sansen, a 59-year-old motorcyclist from Belgium, was killed when his BMW crashed as he was riding to the start line of the ninth stage in Mauritania. His was the 30th fatality in the rally's 14-year history.
