Hoad finished the two-round qualifying contest on 141, one shot behind Katsuyoshi Tomori and Noboru Sugai. Yoshinori Mizumaki led the qualifiers on 137, with Takaaki Fukuzawa on 138 and Ryoken Kawagishi on 139.
