Raith Rovers, the Scottish Premier Division club, have signed the former Sheffield United striker Peter Duffield from Airdrie for pounds 150,000.

Sheffield United have announced plans for a pounds 4m stand on the St John's Road side of Bramall Lane. Work is due to start soon and the stand will be ready for the start of next season.

Australia have named 10 British-based players in their provisional squad for the friendly against Scotland at Hampden Park on 27 March: Stan Lazaridis, Robbie Slater (both West Ham), Zeljko Kalac, Steve Corica (both Leicester), Mark Bosnich (Aston Villa), Craig Moore (Rangers), Andy Bernal (Reading), Shaun Murphy (Notts County), Carl Veart (Sheffield United) and Jason van Blerk (Millwall).
