Sporting digest: Football

Sheffield United have completed the transfer of the defender Shaun Derry from Notts County. The Blades have agreed a fee of pounds 700,000 plus appearance increments.

The experienced goalkeeper Andy Dibble has joined Middlesbrough for the rest of the season to provide cover for Mark Schwarzer and Ben Roberts. Dibble's previous clubs include Cardiff, Luton, Manchester City, Sunderland and Rangers.

Albion Rovers' Tennents Scottish Cup third-round replay against Livingston tomorrow will be played at Firs Park, Falkirk - East Stirlingshire's ground.

The Barnsley midfielder Eric Tinkler and the Fulham goalkeeper Andre Arendse have been left out of the South African squad for the African Nations' Cup in Burkina Faso next month. The Leeds defender Lucas Radebe and Bolton's Mark Fish are, however, both included.
