MIGUEL INDURAIN yesterday stamped his authority on the Tour of Italy two days before the race reaches its conclusion in Milan. The Spanish world No 1 dominated the time trial from Pinerolo to Sestriere, increasing his overall lead to 1min 34sec over second-placed Piotr Ugrumov, of Latvia.

WILFRIED NELISSEN, the Belgian sprint specialist, has been suspended for three months after testing positive for the banned stimulant, ephedrine, after finishing second in the Grand Prix de l'Escaut in Belgium in April.
