JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ, the unbeaten WBC super-lightweight champion from Mexico, will fight Pernell Whitaker for the American's WBC welterweight title in San Antonio on 10 September. Chavez is also scheduled to make a title defence on 8 May against the No 1 contender, Terrence Alli, in Las Vegas. The fight will be on the undercard of Lennox Lewis's WBC heavyweight title defence against Tony Tucker, the former IBF champion.
