Justin Hobbs, the Commonwealth Games 10,000m finalist, has ruled himself out of contention for next month's World Championships in Gothenburg because he is suffering from an Achilles infection.

Barcelona has cancelled an international meeting scheduled for later this month because of financial problems. The meeting, scheduled for 27 July, was part of a circuit of IAAF permit meetings.
