THE unseeded Lizzie Jelfs, a 16-year-old from Banbury, reached her first professional final when she beat her fellow Briton, the 18-year-old Lucie Ahl from Exeter, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the semi-finals of the LTA women's satellite event in Newcastle yesterday. In today's final Jelfs will meet Gabi Coorengel, of the Netherlands, who beat Sylvia Plischke, of Austria, 6-3, 6-4 in the other semi-final.

JAMES BAILY, Britain's newly crowned Australian Open boys' champion, has been given a wild card for the LTA Men's indoor satellite tournament at Eastbourne next week.
