ERIC LINDROS, the Canadian teenager who has been labelled the next Wayne Gretzky, was allocated to the Philadelphia Flyers yesterday by the National Hockey League. The NHL arbitrator, Larry Bertuzzi, ruled for the Flyers in preference to the New York Rangers after the Quebec Nordiques had apparently traded Lindros's rights to both teams. Lindros, 19, who is yet to play a professional NHL game, vowed never to play for the Nordiques because of the side's low media profile and the province's high taxes.
