ADDICK KOOT, the Dutch international defender, has returned to his club, Cannes, after an unsuccessful trial with Nottingham Forest. The 26-year-old scored an own goal against Bolton's reserves on Thursday.

ALAN LAVER, the Sheffield United vice-chairman, has been appointed temporary chairman of the club in place of Paul Woolhouse, who is involved in a High Court action with the club's former chairman, Reg Brealey, who is seeking Woolhouse's removal from the board.
