Henry Wharton, the Commonwealth super-middleweight champion from York, will meet the British title-holder, Fidel Castro Smith, from Sheffield. In the other 12-round contest Sheffield's Herol Graham will defend his British middleweight title against Frank Grant, of Bradford. The show will be the first boxing event at the Leeds United football ground since 1943.
