Michael Doohan, the world championship leader, set the pace in final practice for today's Austrian 500cc grand prix. The Australian, twice a winner this season, clocked 1min 17.126sec on the 4.243km Salzburgring on his Honda. Kevin Schwantz, the champion, was second quickest on a Suzuki, in 1:17.755 as warm, dry weather replaced Friday's rain. 'My best chance will be to stay in Doohan's slipstream on the straights and try and race him on the corners,' Schwantz said.
