From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hann's heaviest defeat of the season followed the loss of an opening frame he looked certain to win. Henry, trailing 64-50 with only two colours remaining, required a snooker but Hann completely missed the pink when trying to play a safety shot. The Scot eventually doubled the pink and sank a straightforward black to strike a blow from which Hann found it impossible to respond.
Hann, who later this month will become the first Australian to compete at the World Championships at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, since Eddie Charlton six years ago, became increasingly frustrated and twice wildly thumped the cue ball into the pack of reds.
A break of 52 gave Henry frame two then he won the third with a run of 92, stole the fourth on the pink and completed the rout by making a 65 break in the fifth.
