After cruising their way into the final with impressive performances, particularly from Karen Brown and Mandy Nicholls, they went the sameway of most sides playing Russelsheim, the awesome defending champions, losing 7-1.
With Eve Hagenbaumer shutting out Brown in midfield, the Germans took control early on with Britta Becker scoring their first five goals before Sam Wright responded with a consolation for Slough. It was Russelsheim's fourth success in the last five years.
In the men's B Division in Edinburgh, St Albans, without the services of Ian Jennings and Henning Tewes, lost their semi final 5-3 to Edinburgh MIM, the eventual winners, and had to settle for fourth place after losing the bronze medal game 4-2 to the Swiss team, Olten.
Teddington's 1-0 win over Havant on Saturday took them a step closer to retaining their Hockey Association Cup title, and yesterday they kept alive their hopes of the double when they ended Cannock's unbeaten record with a thrilling 3-2 victory in the National League.
Teddington's Peter Gibbins, who had set up the last minute goal in extra time for Andy Billson on Saturday, claimed the winner with two minutes remaining. Earlier Phil McGuire had twice given Teddington the lead before Paul Edwards and Justin Pidcock had levelled for the visitors.
Teddington are now just one point behind the leaders Old Loughtonians who beat Slough 5-0 with goals from Nick Thompson (2) and Neil Barker (3).
Guildford moved into third place with a 4-1 win against Stourport. Danny Hall scored the day's second hat-trick with Ian Jennings completing the scoring.
Southgate, who won their Cup game 2-1 at Stourport on Saturday, yesterday dropped points in a 2-2 draw at home to Canterbury. With St Albans otherwise committed in Edinburgh, Brooklands, with a 1-1 draw at home to Whitchurch, took over the leadership of the Second Division.
