Skiing: Tomba's camera trouble
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

When he crossed the line, he shouted: 'It's impossible to race like this. He made me lose all my concentration.' The subject of his fury was Stuart Fitzsimmons, a former member of the British World Cup downhill team.
Tomba stormed out of the finish area, mouthing threats against Fitzsimmons. The World Cup organisers said Fitzsimmons had broken competition rules by following Tomba down part of the course while filming.
They said he had no accreditation for the race. No one was authorised to follow skiers on the course, they said, and Fitzsimmons would be banned from future races.
Tomas Fogdoe, the 22-year-old Swede who was only 12th after the first run, made a brilliant second- leg charge to win.
Jan Einar Thorsen won Saturday's super-giant slalom in Val d'Isere.
Anita Wachter, of Austria, skied swiftly through a snowstorm on the second run to win the World Cup women's giant slalom in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
