Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Underlining Seaman's season of mixed fortunes, it was a bizarre incident that led to his injury, which is likely to keep him out of action for two months. He was dribbling the ball out of his area when he slipped on a divot, giving the ball to Lu Jun, who lobbed the ball into the empty net while Seaman lay in agony.
To add to Arsenal's misery, Stefan Schwarz was sent off for a second bookable offence, while Ian Wright pulled a thigh muscle after just 20 minutes.

Tony Yeboah is also playing the waiting game, delaying a decision on his long-term future at Leeds until next week. Yeboah could exercise a get-out clause in his contract and return to Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt, but Leeds want him to stay at Elland Road for a full three years.
Glenn Hoddle has insisted that the England midfielder, Dennis Wise, is staying at Chelsea, calling reports that he is to be sold to Liverpool "utter rubbish".
Alex Ferguson yesterday refused Manchester City permission to speak to his assistant manager, Brian Kidd, who has emerged as favourite to replace Brian Horton. Meanwhile, the Sheffield United manager, Dave Bassett, who has also been linked with the Maine Road vacancy, is considering the offer of an improved contract at Bramall Lane.
