From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The onus is on Liam Brady and his players to produce a performance at Douglas Park which might encourage the belief that they can salvage something from a grim season.
Beaten in the semi-finals of the Skol Cup and 12 points behind Rangers in the championship, Brady knows that he is under pressure to supply that elusive first trophy. 'We all know the season now depends on a cup run,' the Celtic manager said. 'The strain is always there in the cup against teams who have very little to lose.
'We are away from home on a tight pitch which has taken a real pounding from the weather in recent weeks. But I'm confident about the outcome if my players don't underestimate Clyde or feel frightened by the situation. I don't just want to play pretty football - I want to win.'
Tony Mowbray and Andy Payton, hurt during the 1-0 defeat against Rangers, are certain to be ruled out but the defenders Dariusz Wdowczyk and Gary Gillespie are recalled after injury - along with the striker Tommy Coyne, who is set to start his first game of the season.
The Clyde midfielder, Steve Clarke, is back from suspension while the striker David Thompson is likely to be be fit after injury.
