Your support makes all the difference.Bruce Grobbelaar, one of the players at the centre of match-fixing allegations, has been released by Southampton. The 38-year-old goalkeeper, who made only two Premiership appearances this season, is leaving following the culmination of his two-year contract.
Lawrie McMenemy, the Southampton director of football, said: "We have stood by Bruce during his contract, which is up at the end of June. He has been a magnificent servant and a great professional."
Grobbelaar, who denies the match-fixing allegations, is due back in court in January.
West Ham United are set to sign the Portuguese international Paulo Alves in a pounds 1.5m deal. The Sporting Lisbon striker will fly to London on Tuesday to sign a three-year contract worth around pounds 5,000 a week.
