Your support makes all the difference.STUART CHILDERLEY, a British Olympic representative in South Korea and Barcelona, has left the Chris Dickson syndicate in which he was due to play a prominent part for the 1993-94 Whitbread Round The World Race, writes Stuart Alexander. But they could still join forces to sail for Britain in this year's Admiral's Cup.
'There was no problem between Chris and I but things were not working out too well within the group and so it was better to come out now, rather than have to cope with that sort of problem for 32,000 miles,' Childerley said yesterday.
Childerley is due to hold talks this week with principals of Britain's Admiral's Cup team. 'I have also discussed with Chris the possibility of him sailing with me as tactician in a British team boat,' he added.
Thousands of people lined the harbour as Bruno Peyron and his four-man crew returned to the Frenchman's home port of Le Pouliguen yesterday, after his world-record 79-day circumnavigation of the world. Peyron's catamaran, Commodore Explorer, was escorted by hundreds of small boats.
