Four gold medals was the rich haul for Britain at the World Youth Championships in Bermuda yesterday, three in the individual events, the fourth as the top team of the 39 taking part, writes Stuart Alexander.
For sisters Jessie and Sally Cuthbert in the double-handed Laser 2 there was the additional hat-trick celebration by Sally, who also won gold in 1993 and 1994 crewing for Storm Nuttall.
Britain also won the boys double-handed through Nicolas Rogers and Pom Green, and Ben Ainslie added a gold in the single-handed Laser.
Crews were kept busy on the 150-mile shuttle up and down wind between the Solent and Brighton which formed the offshore race of the Ancasta Mumm 36 World Championship, won yesterday by Luc Gelluseau in Corum from Glenn Bourke in Thomas Friese's I Punkt and Gunnar Krantz in Skandia.
That was enough in the double points scoring race to extend Krantz's overall lead going into today's three inshore sprints in winds expected to be slightly stronger than the maximum 25 knots experienced in the offshore.
