The management of the Millennium Stadium has decided to sell off the dug-up turf for charity, one day after suspending their pitch contractors.
The pitch, laid nearly three weeks ago, was badly scarred during Wales' 11-9 Six Nations win over world champions England on Saturday and fresh turf needed to be laid before last night's football international between Wales and Hungary.
The stadium decided to cut up around 250 square metres of turf into 500 blocks, which will be sold for between £10 and £20 to Wales fans to commemorate their first victory over England in Cardiff in 12 years.
Proceeds will be donated to the Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation, which was set up by the Wales lock Brent Cockbain and his wife, Kate, in the name of their son Toby, who died last year of a brain tumour.
