France vs Scotland has been postponed due to a positive coronavirus test in the French camp with the Six Nations match now set to be rescheduled.

The decision comes after a new positive case forced Fabien Galthié’s side to cancel training on Thursday.

Five new French players, including captain Charles Ollivon, tested positive on Sunday, with the total rising to 13 to leave the contest in doubt at the start of the week.

A fresh round of negative testing yesterday looked to be enough to see the game go ahead on Sunday at the Stade de France.

But the Six Nations Testing Oversight Group met today and decided to “unanimously” recommend the game to be postponed and rescheduled.

A statement read: “The Six Nations Testing Oversight Group [has] unanimously recommended the postponement of the France v Scotland match. This will be ratified later today by the Six Nations Council. We will be working on the rescheduling of this fixture.”

As well as Ollivon, Cyril Baille, Peato Mauvaka, Romain Taofifenua and Brice Dulin returned positive tests on Sunday.

They joined Arthur Vincent, Julien Marchand, Gabin Villiere, Mohamed Haouas and Antoine Dupont, who were confirmed positive for Covid-19 from the previous week, in addition to Galthie and three other staff members.

Gregor Townsend’s side are fourth in the table, having won the Calcutta Cup with a fine performance against England at Twickenham and they clinched a point in their home loss to Wales.

While France, currently unbeaten and favourites for the tournament, top the standings after two rounds.
