Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Scotland flanker Martin Leslie yesterday had his 12-week ban cut on appeal. A three-man panel said Leslie was guilty of kneeing Jason Keyter in the head in Scotland's win over the United States, but reduced the record 12-week ban to eight weeks. The verdict still signals the end of Leslie's international career as the 31-year-old was due to retire after the World Cup.
Scotland have made wholesale changes for Saturday's match against Fiji. Scott Murray is dropped after the51-9 loss to France, Nathan Hines taking his place. Bruce Douglas is in for the injured tight-head prop Gavin Kerr, and Ross Beattie replaces Jason White on the blind side. The outside centre Andy Craig has been dropped with Gregor Townsend taking his place and Chris Paterson starting as stand-off. Simon Danielli starts on the wing.
Argentina prop Roberto Grau was suspended for nine weeks and his front-row partner Mauricio Reggiardo for six weeks after a World Cup panel found both had raked their hands across the faces of Irish opponents on Sunday.
