Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Tom Voyce needs to shine for Wasps in today's Guinness Premiership visit to Bristol to hold off the claims of club-mate Josh Lewsey for the England full-back's shirt against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Lewsey, recovering from a shoulder injury, should be fit for the Calcutta Cup, but Voyce said: "I want a good performance to keep the pressure on Andy Robinson."

Wasps, who are on course for a semi-final berth despite their fitful title defence, have named Voyce on the wing. He lines up alongside his England colleagues Lawrence Dallaglio, Simon Shaw and Matt Dawson against Bristol, but Joe Worsley is rested.

Newcastle face Gloucester at Kingston Park in a contest between two form teams. Newcastle, who have lost only once in their last 11 games, recall Colin Charvis as captain and England centres Jamie Noon and Mathew Tait.

The bottom club Connacht sealed a rare Celtic League victory with second-half tries from Colm Rigney, Paul Warwick and David Slemen to topple Llanelli 33-19 in Galway yesterday. Meanwhile, Munster remain top despite going down to a rare defeat at Thomond Park by 26-20 to Glasgow, whose fly-half Colin Gregor supplied 21 points.

Newport-Gwent Dragons saw off depleted Leinster 31-18 with two tries from their captain, Jason Forster, and one from Gareth Wyatt. Kieron Lewis replied with two touchdowns for Leinster.

Canterbury Crusaders top the Super 14 after a 47-21 demolition of Queensland Reds in Brisbane. Dan Carter contributed 27 points, including two tries, and Rico Gear also crossed twice for the visitors. Hurricanes moved up to second after a 29-5 success over Western Force in Wellington. Jason Eaton claimed a brace of tries, but his fellow All Black, the centre Conrad Smith, suffered a suspected broken leg and could be out for the season.
