Reynolds, who played 10 tests for Australia between 1982 and 1987, joins Alan Gaffney as an assistant to the head coach Eddie Jones. Jones said Reynolds was hired as a specialist line-out coach after he worked with the Wallabies as a line-out consultant on last year's end of season tour of France and the United States.
"With the appointment of Alan Gaffney and now Ross Reynolds coming on board, we have two Australian coaches who have gained valuable experience both at home and then overseas," Jones said.
Reynolds,who is currently still living in Britain with his family following his stints at Orrell and Rotherham, will return to Australia next month to start preparing for this year's international series starting in June.
"This is just another great challenge for me personally," Reynolds said. "I'm really excited about continuing my involvement with the Wallabies and looking forward to working with the players again this year."
The Wallabies' first Test of the season is against Samoa in Sydney on 11 June.
