From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Edinburgh and Llanelli Scarlets have been drawn against Wasps and Toulouse in the group stages of next season's Heineken Cup.

The Scottish and Welsh sides have been placed with the Premiership champions and Heineken Cup holders in pool six.

"It is a pretty difficult draw," said Edinburgh's full-back, Chris Paterson. "However, we feel that we let ourselves down this past year. We have a massive opportunity to play some top teams and win this year."

The Scarlets' chief executive, Stuart Gallacher, believes home form will be crucial. "We have beaten Wasps and Edinburgh at home in previous campaigns and run Toulouse close," he said. "What this group will give us is full houses at Stradey and we're looking forward to that."

In another tough draw, Leicester find themselves up against last season's losing finalists Stade Français in pool three, and further French opposition in the shape of Clermont Auvergne.
