15 Leigh Halfpenny (Wales) Halfpenny has been Mr Consistent – even across Wales' run of bad results he stood out for his solidity. He is good under the high ball and has the all-round game in attack and defence. Alex Goode has played well, so has Stuart Hogg for Scotland – all three are making a good case to start ahead of Rob Kearney and that's without even considering Ben Foden. That's the thing about the Lions – there will be some high-quality players who don't even make the squad, let alone the Test side. I feel Halfpenny is the most gifted and his kicking swings it – it's important to have two kickers in the XV.

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

With the Six Nations past the halfway stage, ex-England captain Lewis Moody picks the men he thinks the head coach, Warren Gatland, should select in his starting XV to face Australia in this summer's three-match series – and makes a case for the best skipper...
