Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Wales have included the 20-year-old centre Scott Williams for their must-win game against Fiji on Sunday. The young Scarlet is rewarded for his hat-trick against Namibia with a start in Wales' final match of Pool D.
Just two years ago, Williams was playing in the amateur ranks of the Welsh leagues with Whitland, the west Wales club that produced Mike Phillips.
Phillips and Gethin Jenkins are the only survivors from the defeat to Fiji that knocked Wales out of the 2007 World Cup, with James Hook and Shane Williams injured and Stephen Jones and Alun Wyn Jones on the bench.
Phillips said: "It would be nice to banish those memories. This is a completely different group but personally, I was involved and it wasn't very nice. It was a low point. So it would be nice to get one over Fiji and put that game to bed."
Wales have picked as strong a team as available with Jamie Roberts, George North and Adam Jones all recalled. Wales coach Warren Gatland said: "Our focus is on Fiji. If we can win one more game, and win it well, that will give us the best chance of reaching the quarter-finals with significant momentum."
