From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jonny Wilkinson found time to praise England's victory over the All Blacks a week ago. "That may just be the biggest turning point of the last five years," said Wilkinson, 33, who retired from Test rugby last year.
"I thought it was fantastic with loads to be taken from it. There's a big feet-on-the-ground issue, about not allowing it to become something too huge. An interception try and a couple of others pushed them to a big score. But there's no doubt we deserved to win against a very, very good side.
"It starts with a ruthless defence and a ruthless attacking of the breakdown when you've got the ball and when you're making the tackle. That's what England did, and they were absolutely fabulous. That foundation was incredible which is why it's so exciting. That stuff is repeatable and if we can put that into the next game, and the next game, we won't always need Manu [Tuilagi] to beat five players."
