Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It’s a big game for…

Matthew Morgan. The Bristol based fullback makes his starting debut in front of a home crowd. Filling in for the heroic Leigh Halfpenny and Liam Williams is a big test of a player’s character. On the biggest stage, it will be interesting to see how he does.

Teams...

Wales: Matthew Morgan; Alex Cuthbert, Tyler Morgan, Jamie Roberts, George North; Dan Biggar, Gareth Davies; Taulupe Faletau, Sam Warburton, Dan Lydiate; Alun-Wyn Jones, Bradley Davies; Tomas Francis, Scott Baldwin, Gethin Jenkins.

Replacements: Ken Owens, Aaron Jarvis, Samson Lee, Luke Charteris, Justin Tipuric, Lloyd Williams, Rhys Priestland, James Hook

Fiji: Metuisela Talebulamaijaina; Timoci Nagusa, Vereniki Goneva, Levani Botia, Asaeli Tikoirotuma; Ben Volavola, Nemia Kenatale; Netani Talei, Akapusi Qera, Dominiko Waqaniburotu; Leone Nakarawa, Tevita Cavubati; Manasa Saulo, Sunia Koto, Campese Ma’afu.

Replacements: Vili Veikoso, Peni Ravai Kovekalou, Lee Roy Atalifo, Nemia Soqeta, Mala Ravulo, Henry Seniloli, Josh Matavesi, Kini Murimurivalu.

Weird stat…

70. This is the swing of points between the two sides in their last two World Cup matches. Whilst Fiji won in France in 2007 (34-38), the Welsh stormed back in New Zealand (66-0.)

Remember when…

Fiji beat Wales? The 2007 World Cup threw these two sides together, with both teams showing some absolute brilliance. None was more obvious than Fiji’s second try (shown first in the video), scored by Delasau, who went over following a bizarre attack from deep.

Player to watch…

Dan Biggar. The hero at Twickenham last Saturday (or villain, depending on your choice of rugby shirt,) Biggar kept the Welsh within touching distance when England drew ahead. He dictated the game when others fell around him and kept his cool.

Past three-meetings…

Wales 17 (North, Cuthbert, Penalty Try) Fiji 13 (Nadolo) Autumn Internationals 2014.

Fiji 0 Wales 66 (Scott Williams, North, Warburton, Roberts (2), Burns, Halfpenny, Lloyd Williams, Davies.) Rugby World Cup Pool stages. 2011.
