Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Huw Jones: In Scotland’s one-point defeat to Australia last Saturday, there was one breakout star amongst the home side’s XV – outside-centre Huw Jones. The 22-year-old, who plays for Stormers in South Africa, scored two tries against the Wallabies to ensure that Scotland did not suffer in the absence of Mark Bennett and Duncan Taylor.

Weird stat…

In the 15 matches that Scotland and Argentina have played against each other, the home side have scored 309 points while the Pumas have amassed 268. However, Scotland have only six victories to show for their efforts and Argentina have won the other nine matches.

Remember when…

Scotland fell agonisingly short of victory against the Pumas after Dan Parks missed a late drop goal to keep the scores at 13-12 in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. That was only time in the last 5 fixtures between the teams that Argentina have won.

Player to watch…

Juan Martin Hernandez: The veteran centre, formerly of French side Toulon, has amassed almost 70 caps for his national side since his debut in 2003 and scored a try on Saturday as Argentina narrowly lost out to Wales in Cardiff.
