Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

England backs coach Andy Farrell revealed that Joseph's fitness would be determined one way or another by Wednesday.
"JJ has a bit of a knock, nothing too serious and we're working hard to get him fit," Farrell said at an England press conference at the team base in Surrey ahead of Saturday's Pool A encounter at Twickenham.
"We'll give JJ every chance to prove his fitness. We'll know if he's fit tomorrow. If he's not, then it's only a week long injury."
Farrell also revealed that No8 Ben Morgan has a bang on the knee but stressed that the injury "isn't serious at all".
Morgan did not train with England on Monday.
If Joseph is ruled out by injury it would be a big blow for England head coach Stuart Lancaster as the Bath centre is a potential matchwinner.
Lancaster has several options to replace Joseph, with Henry Slade and Sam Burgess the other specialist centres in his squad while fly-half Owen Farrell has got experience of playing at centre.
