Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Luther Burrell: The centre knows a strong showing will cement his return to the England squad for the tour of Australia as a replacement for the injured Manu Tuilagi. Burrell narrowly missed out on World Cup selection last year as Stuart Lancaster elected to name Sam Burgess in his 31-man squad instead, and the Northampton Saints centre subsequently missed the Six Nations as Owen Farrell and Jonathan Joseph lined up together.
If Burrell can impress against Wales, there’s no reason to rule him out of the equation in the running for one of the two centre berths.

59-57: England hold a slender lead in the head-to-head battle with Wales, with their tally of 59 victories just two more than the Welsh haul. The teams have played 128 times before, playing out 12 draws, and a victory for Wales on Sunday can move them to within one win of England.

Wales helped knock England out of the Rugby World Cup? The home World Cup ended is embarrassment for the hosts as a late defeat to Wales left them on the brink of a pool stage exit – something that was confirmed a week later when Australia routed the red rose.
A try from scrum-half Rhys Webb sealed a 28-25 victory to spark wild celebrations at Twickenham.

Teimana Harrison: The Northampton Saints flanker will receive his first cap in an England shirt after being selected to replace the rested Chris Robshaw. With the back-row conundrum still somewhat unclear – with James Haskell, Jack Clifford and Robshaw all in the mix – Harrison needs a strong showing to throw his name into the hat and prove to Eddie Jones that he has something to offer.
The New Zealand-born flanker starts on the openside with Clifford at No 8 and Haskell on the blindside.
