Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Mike Brown 7/10

Second confident display of autumn helps to cement place at full back, particularly in rejigged back three.

Chris Ashton 5/10

Involved because of injuries, scored try, but jury out with All Blacks to come.

Joel Tomkins 5/10

No doubt about work ethic, still seeking to make impact England need at outside centre but has adapted well.

Billy Twelvetrees 6/10

Much happier this week after two glaring errors against Australia. Took try well, did fair share of playmaking and tight in defence.

Ben Foden 5/10

Whole-hearted trier who seldom had opportunity in space. Good first-half exchange with Brown on left-hand touch but England need flier on wing.

Owen Farrell 7/10

Steady as a rock. Goal-kicking gave England cushion needed in second half. Just what was needed on day.

Lee Dickson 6/10

Would have liked to stay on for longer and deserved to because he still has work to do to make shirt his own.

Joe Marler 6/10

Part of very positive front row in first half, unlucky to be hooked off at half-time because of need to give Alex Corbisiero game time.

Dylan Hartley 7/10

Excellent hour which should stand him in good stead. Accurate at lineout (bar one), loose play was formidable and scrum stood up well.

David Wilson 6/10

All of the above plus ball-carrying, which has been so strong for club.

Joe Launchbury 6/10

Worked hard for try and is settling in. Will feel he rates place against New Zealand next Saturday.

Courtney Lawes 7/10

Outstanding game, helped by understanding with Hartley, his club hooker. Coincidence that lineout suffered horrid blip just after his departure?

Tom Wood 6/10

Conceded too many penalties on ground. Always fine line for flanker and there is no doubt of his value to side.

Chris Robshaw 7/10

Perfect to pick up the bits and pieces. Stood strong against physical Pumas pack to collect second trophy.

Billy Vunipola 5/10

Argentina gave him very little change – one driving run in the first half was all he was allowed.

Replacements

Tom Youngs Hard act to follow in Hartley.

Alex Corbisiero Helped scrum gain upper hand.

Dan Cole Should start against New Zealand.

Geoff Parling Could struggle to regain place.

Ben Morgan Strong last-quarter impact.

Danny Care Struggled in an insipid second half.

Toby Flood Brought experience to bear.

Alex Goode Only four minutes, did well.
