Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

French club Brive have signed England fly-half Andy Goode from Leicester.

The 28-year-old, capped nine times by England, joins compatriots Ben Cohen, Steve Thompson and Ben Johnston at the Top 14 club.

Brive revealed at a press conference that the 28-year-old has signed a two-year contract, with the option for an additional year.

Goode, who has nine England caps, has spent almost his entire 10-year career at Leicester, apart from a brief stint at Saracens in 2003.

Also among the exiled British contingent at the club are Welshmen Alix Popham and Barry Davies.

Goode’s game time at fly-half for the Tigers looked to be limited next season with the arrival of England’s Toby Flood from Newcastle Falcons, but his departure leaves the Tigers in desperate need of some back up at No.10 when Flood goes on international duty.

Goode’s last cap was in an England win over South Africa in November 2006.
