Your support makes all the difference.Gloucester's England No 8, James Forrester, has been cited for allegedly kneeing the Sale fly-half David Blair in the Premiership match at Edgeley Park last weekend.
Blair was left in some discomfort after Forrester's challenge and it was discovered the Scot had broken two small bones in his back and will be out of action for six to eight weeks. Forrester is to appear before an RFU disciplinary hearing next Tuesday. Last week Forrester was named in the England Saxons squad for the forthcoming round of second-tier international matches.
England will begin their defence of the Rugby World Cup against the United States in Lens on Saturday 8 September, kicking off at 6pm local time, 5pm British Summer Time.
The host nation, France ,get the 2007 tournament under way the evening before when they take on Argentina in Paris. Wales embark on their campaign the day after England with an afternoon kick-off (2pm local time) against Canada in Nantes, while Scotland play an as yet unidentified qualifier four hours later in St-Etienne.
The International Rugby Board announced yesterday the kick-off times for all 48 matches of the tournament, from the opening game on 7 September to the final in Paris on 20 October. The semi-finals (13 and 14 October) and final all kick off at 9pm local time and will all be staged at the Stade de France. The third-fourth place play-off has been renamed the Bronze final and is at the Parc des Princes the day before the final.
Kevin Maggs, the Ireland centre, is leaving Ulster to rejoin Bristol, the club with which he began his career. Maggs, who has won 70 Ireland caps, will return to the club for the 2007-08 season on a two-year contract.
Bristol also announced yesterday the signing of the New Zealand Maori hooker Scott Linklater, from Waikato, who joins the club later this week. Linklater's wife is from Bristol and therefore he does not qualify as a foreign player.
The Ulster lock Matt McCullough is to face a European Rugby Cup disciplinary hearing to answer charges of abusive and racist language against the London Irish wing Delon Armitage in the two Heineken Cup games between the sides in December.
