Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Less fortunate was Leicester's Fijian winger Seru Rabeni, who was sidelined for the rest of the season after being handed a 14-week ban for eye-gouging
The former England captain is now free to play from today as Wasps had acted pre-emptively after an internal hearing following the incident with Leicester prop Julian White during Wasps' EDF Cup semi-final at the Millennium Stadium 10 days ago. Wasps suspended Dallaglio for the Premiership match at Leicester last weekend. It is Dallaglio's final season before retirement and there had been speculation that he would receive a stiffer penalty.
Rabeni was found guilty of gouging Saracens' hooker Andy Kyriacou. His suspension runs until 8 July.
De Wet Barry was cleared to play for Harlequins. Barry, 29, was sent off during Saturday's Newcastle match after a high shoulder charge on Mathew Tait, but was found not guilty of committing a "deliberate, late charge".
