From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Glasgow have made three changes to the starting XV for tomorrow's Magners League match against the Ospreys.
The hooker Dougie Hall, lock Aly Muldowney and winger Rob Dewey have come into the side for the Firhill encounter, replacing Fergus Thomson, Tom Ryder and Federico Aramburu, respectively. Thomson and Ryder are named on the bench but Aramburu is out with a neck strain.
Hall was this week called into Andy Robinson's squad for the autumn Tests and is pleased to return to the Warriors front row. "I was aware I had to earn back my place in the Glasgow team and I'm glad some of my performances have given me the opportunity to start," Hall said. "This weekend is another opportunity to find a bit of form going into the autumn Tests and, hopefully, gain selection."
Glasgow have won one of their five league games this season and their head coach, Sean Lineen, knows his side face a stern test. "The Ospreys have quality right throughout and they'll have an international XV whoever they pick," he said. "The Ospreys defence is the strongest in the league and that is where they score their tries – turnovers. Their set-piece play is very aggressive and they boast so many wily campaigners who can turn a game."
*The South Africa coach, Peter de Villiers, has named the 101-Test veteran Victor Matfield as Springboks captain for the tour to Britain and Ireland. Matfield will stand in for John Smit, who misses Tests against Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England, and a match against the Barbarians, after undergoing back surgery.
