Your support makes all the difference.Leinster and Ulster yesterday joined a third Irish province, Munster, in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup. Leinster beat Montpellier 25-3 at home, before Ulster lost 19-15 away to Clermont Auvergne.
Sean O'Brien, Rob Kearney and Cian Healy scored tries for Leinster, who will be second seeds behind Munster and thus play their quarter-final at home. Ulster did not score a try but five penalties from Ruan Pienaar kept them in bonus-point range of Clermont, who won Pool Four. Ulster are through as one of the two best runners-up, a position they were guaranteed by Connacht's win over Harlequins and Toulouse's loss at Gloucester on Friday night. They will now be away to Munster or Leinster.
In Pool Three, a dead rubber at the Rec produced a 23-18 win for Bath over Glasgow. Tom Biggs and Ben Skirving scored tries for Bath and Tommy Seymour and Rob Harley scored for Glasgow. Olly Barkley kicked 13 points for Bath; Duncan Weir kicked two penalties and Scott Wight kicked a conversion for Glasgow. In Pool One, the Scarlets beat Castres 16-13 in France. Matthew Gilbert and Aaron Shingler scored tries for the Welsh region, who will now go into the quarter-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Leicester finished third in Pool Four, after beating Aironi 33-6 at Welford Road. Thomas Waldrom, Ben Woods, Geordan Murphy and George Ford scored the Tigers' tries.
In the Amlin, Newcastle lost 21-13 away to Lyon, Toulon won 50-6 at Petrarca, the Newport Gwent Dragons beat Cavalieri Prato 45-16 and Bucuresti won 26-13 at Crociati Parma.
