The Men in Red got on the board thanks to tries from Duncan Williams and Robin Copeland, and 11 points from the boot of Ian Keatley. Five earlier penalties from Humphreys had put Ulster within touching distance but the missed conversion meant that the score ended 21-20.
Cardiff Blues overcame a stubborn Treviso 36-25 thanks to a debut try from full-back Joaquin Tuculet. Two tries from Francesco Minto and 15 points from Joe Carlisle’s tee had Treviso comfortably in the game, but tries from Tuculet, Kristian Dacey, Lloyd Williams, Rory Watts-Jones and Richard Smith meant that it was an easy enough win for the Welshmen in the end.
Zebre secured only their second win of the season, beating an injury-ravaged Edinburgh side 18-10 at home. A Roddy Grant try opened the scoring for the Scots but Zebre hit back with tries of their own from Michele Visentin and Giulio Bisegni.
Ospreys lost their second game of the season and their second in a row, as they went down 18-12 to Leinster away. A lack of composure and solid defending from both sides meant that the match went down to penalties, with Sam Davies kicking four penalties for the Ospreys, and Jimmy Gopperth and Ian Madigan both kicking three for the home side.
Connacht continued their superb PRO12 campaign as they beat Scarlets 14-8 at home. Pat Lam’s side picked up the win thanks to a superb Matt Healey try and three penalties from Jack Carty. Scarlets meanwhile, could only muster a Harry Robinson try and a Steve Shingler penalty.
Fourteen points from the boot of Duncan Weir helped an under-strength Glasgow Warriors side sneak past Newport Gwent Dragons. Five penalties from Rhys Jones meant that the Dragons were always in touching distance, but a penalty try thanks to a dominant scrum gave the Scots a just-deserved win.
