Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The former England captain missed Worcester's opening two Guinness Premiership matches against Northampton and Wasps, and it has now emerged he might not play again until late October.
New Zealander Greg Rawlinson has taken over leadership duties in Sanderson's absence, and is set to continue when unbeaten Leicester visit Sixways on Saturday.
Warriors rugby director Mike Ruddock, meanwhile, has confirmed Marcel Garvey is out for six weeks due to hip trouble, while Garvey's fellow wing Rico Gear is nursing an Achilles problem that means he is an absentee for Tigers' visit.
Ruddock though, is likely to make only a solitary change from the side that pipped Premiership champions Wasps 11-10 last Sunday.
Fly-half Loki Crichton, whose injury-time penalty gave Worcester the win at Adams Park, is a confirmed starter instead of Welshman Matthew Jones.
Ruddock said: "Matthew Jones has had a few problems with an abductor at the top of his leg.
"It happened last minute, and was a bit sore in last Sunday's warm-up.
"We let him carry on and play, and he did well overall, but he was struggling with his kicking game and pulled up a little bit sore this week.
"The medics tell me they will get him right for Saturday, but on the basis of that, Loki is going to start and Matthew is then an option for us off the bench."
