Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The fly-half Ian Humphreys scored all the province's points, including the winning try. Seru Noa Nakaitaci scored Clermont's try and David Skrela kicked two penalties. Clermont took a losing bonus point, for finishing within seven points, that will be... well, a bonus when it comes to totting up the final table.
In the same pool, Leicester won 28-12 in Italy against Aironi but, perhaps equally importantly, didn't take a bonus point. Tom Croft, Alesana Tuilagi and Niall Morris scored the Tigers' three tries. Aironi's points came from kicks.
In Pool Five, the Ospreys beat Biarritz 28-21 at home. Tommy Bowe scored the Welsh region's try and Dan Biggar kicked 23 points, with the conversion and seven penalties. Iain Balshaw scored two tries for the Basque club.
In the Amlin Challenge Cup, the Newport Gwent Dragons beat Cavalieri Prato 33-3, Newcastle beat Lyon 27-19, Bayonne beat Rovigo 43-10, Agen beat La Vila 50-10 and Brive beat Sale 26-18.
