Your support makes all the difference.HULL'S Nolan brothers, Rob and Gary, defied the extreme cold to help Hull beat Widnes 10-6 and reach the quarter-finals of the Regal Trophy yesterday.
While matches in the West Riding were being called off in blizzard conditions, Hull and Widnes defied the elements.
Hull took the lead after 10 minutes when Paul Eastwood kicked a penalty, but Widnes battled back with Steve McCurrie scoring a try and Bobby Goulding adding the goal.
From here the Nolans turned the match. Gary took a superb pass from Daniel Divet to score on half time and then his brother, Rob, went in for what proved the winner after 50 minutes, combining well with James Grant following an excellent burst by Hull's man of the match, the prop Tim Street.
London Crusaders stormed into the quarter-finals for the first time when they overcame Ryedale York 42-10.
The centre Scott Roskell paved the way for London's victory with a superb hat-trick of tries, while the scrum-half Mark Riley scored two touchdowns.
Ryedale York stayed in contention in the first half, but were swept aside in the second period as London finished with eight tries.
The stand-off George Graham scored a hat-trick as Carlisle proved too strong for the strugglers Bramley, winning 34-4.
The match was marred by the sending-off of Carlisle's Duncan McCartney and Bramley's Kevin Bell after a 36th-minute flare-up.
